Some people dream of starting their own business, that will be run right. Too often this turns into a nightmare costing them sanity, friends, family and cash.
This talk looks at starting a small business for technologists.
Technologists are both well equipped to start a business and often ham strung by their very strengths. In addition to answering the key question of "What do you need to start a business?", we visit some of the common reasons for business failure and how to avoid them.
Maurice has started two technology based businesses and seen them through the whole business cycle from birth to sale. In this talk he reflects on some of the things that worked, he wished he had known or learned the hard way.
Presentation made to the monthly meeting of the Victorian SAGE-AU chapter on Tuesday 10 June 2008.
